Snow messages
Dear families,
Following recent weather notifications from the met office of possible snow, we felt this would be a good time to go over procedures.
We will always try to open, however we are duty bound to ensure we can do this safely. We will communicate by via text, if you are not receiving text messages or emails, please update your details or communicate this to the school office.
Snow at night-
If there is heavy snow fall over night, we will aim to make a decision and inform you by 8am if we will close or open late. Our decision will be based on conditions in Stonebroom, but also for key routes for public transport & staff, such as the M1, A38 & A617. If the forecast is due to change and warm up we may make the decision to open later in the morning to allow for safe transportation.
Snow during the school day-
We would appreciate that pupils are not collected early from school if there is snow in the day, particularly if you live in walking distance of the school. Last year we had limited snowfall, but of that that did fall, it arrived in the day. It caused a lot of transportation issues on major roads and then had cleared by home time. We will endeavour to stay open until the end of the school day & would only close early in extreme circumstances.
Kind regards,
Angela Sweeney
