Community Week at Stonebroom/Litter Picking Event Monday 28th April - Friday 2nd May

23 April 2025 (by Gemma Phipps (gphipps))

Dear Parents and Children
Next week we will be running a special Community Week across school.

Kicking off the week the Eco Committee will be leading Monday's assembly for the whole school, sharing the theme 'One small act could make a huge difference'. During the week, each class will be going out into the school grounds and local area to carry out a litter pick to make a difference for the community. Even the gardening club will spend their session litter picking hard to reach areas together!
We are also inviting parents and families to borrow our litter picking equipment for a local litter pick before or after school each day if they wish, please pop into the office where they'll be a sign out sheet for the litter pickers and bags.
On Thursday we will be joined by a member of the local Food Pantry to share some of the work they do. To support them, the School Council will be running a non-uniform day on Friday 2nd May. We are asking every child, where they can, to donate just one item for the Food Pantry for their non-uniform day to help support this local charity and all the work they do.

The donations will be taken by the School Council and the Eco Committee to the Food Pantry later in the week.

We hope this event will be a huge success and we will share pictures and the total number of bags of rubbish collected too on Jotter.

Thank you for your support and we hope you will join us,

Mrs Phipps and the Eco Committee
