Keeping Your Child Safe On-line Training for Parents/Carer/Grandparents25 March 2019 (by admin) |
We are inviting any parents/carers/grandparents into school for a training session with Traci Good, with the focus on 'How to Keep Your Child Safe On-line'.
We have invited Traci Good, who specialises in online safety, to come into school and talk to parents about the amazing opportunities that the internet has to offer our children and also a look at some of the risks that our children face and how to deal with them when they happen.
Traci says “Firstly, and most importantly this isn’t a session to tell you how to parent your children! My experience tells me that our children are gaming against others, some are accessing inappropriate content and most have ownership of devices from an earlier age than ever before. As parents and carers we need to understand some of the risks they face and how we can support them, and where we can get help ourselves if we need it. Children are making and sharing their own online content from reception class to year 6, using apps like You Tube, Tik Tok, Twitch and Roblox. If they are not doing it at home, they may be doing it at a friend’s house. We need to be aware of how to support them if and when they see something online that makes them feel sad, scared or worried. I can almost promise that you will learn something new so please come along, it will be great to meet you”
On Tuesday 30th April 2019, Traci will be in school in the afternoon, working with our pupils, showing them how to stay safe on-line. She will then be delivering a workshop to staff, showing us how best to support our pupils.
At 6pm we are inviting any parent/carer/grandparent (adults only) into school to hear what Traci has to say, and then she will answer any questions or queries that you may have. Refreshments will be provided.
A letter will be sent out with further details- follow the link to read the letter.
