Seasonal vegetable tarts
We had a busy morning peeling, chopping and preparing our ingredients in preparation for our seasonal vegetable tarts.
Some of us had to tweak our designs slightly, based on the ingredients that were available but we did a wonderful jobs of preparing the ingredients and assembling the tarts.
Don't forget to evaluate your tarts after you've eaten them - or if your grown-up beat you to it, you'll have to ask them what they thought!

Cutting and peeling skills
We certainly have some budding chefs in the making!
We practiced our peeling and chopping skill this week, in preparation for making our seasonal vegetable tarts.
I was very impressed with the skills shown by all the children and they were fantastic at following the safety tips and everybody’s fingers stayed safe!

Stone Age day
What a busy day we've had!
We were transported back to the Stone Age day and had an invasion of Cave people at Stonebroom Primary!
We started the day by finishing our 'cave wall' paintings and then we made some Stone Age jewellery out of clay.
During lunchtime, out classroom transformed into a cave! We finished the day by doing some art work on our cave walls to make the place feel more like home.

Stone Age forest school
This afternoon, Year 3 went into the woodland to experience Stone Age life. It was a very cold day too so it gave us a very accurate experience of what it would have been like in the outdoors!
We had lots of different activities going on including, making clay beakers (like the Beaker People), making natural paints and running away from mammoths!
We also created a collaborative piece of artwork, 'Hands on the Cave Wall'
It has been a wonderful afternoon and the children were super stars and worked so well together!

Spice painting
We have been looking at cave art, linking to our Stone Age topic and investigating how the cave people may have made their paint.
We knew that we had to use natural products to colour our paint so we used a range of different ground spices. It was good to see how the different colours were made and how some colours were bolder than others.
The classroom also smelt delicious for days!

Mary Anning film
As we have been learning all about fossils as part of our science lessons, we though it would be great if we made a film about the greatest fossil finder in history, Mary Anning.
We hope you enjoy!

Hodegheg walk
We have been reading the book, 'The Hodgeheg' in class and we wanted to know how it would feel to be Max the hedgehog, walking through the forest of legs and reaching the Park on a cold autumnal night. We crouched down as far as we could to try and reach Max's height and scurried to the 'Park gate'.
This really helped us when we came to write our setting description as we were able to use our feelings and emotions from this experience and include them in our writing.

Cushions
Wow! What super sewers we are in Year 3!
We have been working hard on our cushion designs and ensuring that we very carefully used the applique technique to have beautifully patterned cushions. It has taken a while to complete them but I think you will agree that they were worth the wait!

Animal bones
Today we explored some real animal bones to help us answer the questions, 'do all animals have the same bones?' as part of our Big Question work.
It was very interesting and Boris (our class skeleton) helped us identify some of the bones that were a bit trickier to pin down than others.

Natural Skeletons
We used all our wonderful science knowledge that we have already learnt today by creating natural skeletons. We first gathered the resources and then planned what we would use for the different bones, by looking at their shape.
We then labelled the important bones and their function.
